Rotary Club of Ambernath East Visits TPSDI-Shahad

A 5-member delegation from the Rotary Club of Ambernath East visited TPSDI-Shahad on February 1, 2016. The Rotary Club of Ambernath East is keenly exporing the possibility of tying up with TPSDI for a project. The club is interested in sponsoring and sending unempolyed and needy rural youth to TPSDI for training in power sector skills.

The Rotary Club delegation included Dr. Laxman Pawar (President Rotary Club of Ambernath East), Dr. Shrikant Garje, Dr. Leena Chaudhari Dhande, Dr. Ghorpade (Block Development Officer, Panchayat Samiti, Kalyan) and Chintaman Magar (Former Sarpanch, Ghotsai Village). The delegation toured the entire TPSDI-Shahad campus visting all training facilties and understanding the equipment and other installations on display at the campus. The delegation also discussed the various courses offered by TPSDI to understand which courses could be of interest to the youth they were targeting through their project. The Rotary Club of Ambernath East runs various projects in the villages around Ambernath and are seeking to start a project that will enable rural youth to acquire employable skills.

The visit by the delegation was the result of a talk on Skill India Mission and TPSDI by Dr. Mandar Talvekar, Head - Content Development at TPSDI. Dr. Talvekar had been invited to address the club on 20 January, 2016. After the talk, the club expressed interest in contributing to the Skill India Mission by starting a new project.

As a part of TPSDI's effort to reach out to the marginalized and rural youth, Dr. Mandar Talvekar, along with the Rotary Club of Ambernath East visited the village of Ghotsai on 14 February, 2016to talk to the youth and explain TPSDI's training courses and their benefits
