How TPSDI Shahad got its Bus Stop ?

HomeMedia News Details
Cable Faculty Mr. Sonawane at the Inaguration of the Bus Stop

TPSDI Shahad is the flagship Training Center of TPSDI which is spread over a lush 10 acre campus in the Varap Village along the Kalyan-Murbad road near Mumbai. TPSDI Shahad is TPSDI's Center of Excellence for Power System Skills and attracts thousands of trainees from all over Mumbai and outside each year. For the trainees, the easiest way to reach the Training Center is through train, which brings them up till the Shahad Railway Station. However, the Training Center is around 3 kms away from the Railway Station and there was no direct bus connectivity from Shahad Railway Station to TPSDI Shahad. The farthest a bus would take them was up till the Varap Bus Stop, which was still a Kilometer away from TPSDI Shahad. Trainees were constrained to either spend money on auto ride to the Training Center, or undertake an arduous 1 km hike up to the Training Center each day. This issue was known to TPSDI Shahad management and it decided to take up the matter with the MSRTC. They first submitted an application to the Shahad Bus Depo, and pursued the matter with them. For a brief period, the buses stopped at TPSDI Shahad, but soon discontinued for unknown reasons. After trying to get the issue resolved at the local level for over a year, TPSDI Shahad approached MSRTC's Divisional office at Thane. Here, the request was renewed and pursued vigorously. Eventually, the authorities agreed and TPSDI Shahad got its own Bus Stop (pick up shed) on 8 August 2017. Mr. Hari Rohra, Head - TRU, TPSDI Shahad says that this was possible due to the tireless efforts of one person particularly - Cable Instructor Mr. G. L. Sonawane, who had genuine concern for the plight of the trainees.

Mr. Sonawane said that not only trainees thanked TPSDI Shahad management for the Bus Stop, but many people from nearby villages approached the Training Center and expressed their gratitude as the Bus Stop had made their lives easier.

Kudos to the heroes who championed the cause of the trainees.
